Guna duit baik-baik

By Aaron Rao

Recently I had a pretty interesting talk with one of my close acquaintance. She said “why do Malaysia try like to create record breaking ‘achievements’?”

The answer to that question is pretty debatable. I for one am more on the pessimist side.

Let us look at the latest record Malaysia or the government has set. The Angkasawan Programme. As much as it could be applauded to aspire young Malaysians to venture into rocket science, many argued that it is actually a gigantic waste of tax payers’ money. A whopping USD 45 million was used to fund the project and from the looks of it, Malaysians got nothing out of it except for some newspaper headlines, and a good looking spaceman who didn’t actually get far in space. USD 45 million could be much better used for already on going government projects. For instance building the Penang Monorail years ago, improve road infrastructure or helping the country reduce poverty. Continue reading ‘Guna duit baik-baik’

Perk Com?

By Aaron Rao

I’d like to say a few words regarding our dear own communications society PERKOM. From my own eyes, and probably the eyes of many, Perkom has not been doing what it is suppose to be doing. To bear the name of the school, I would like to see perkom actually doing things that has to do with communications and what we learn i.e. free movie previews, tickets to the Kancil Awards, or educational tours like to TV3 or Astro. How not to be an A** of a tutor

By Aaron Rao

crazyteacher.jpgFor those who wish to be lecturers in the future and those who are new in tutoring, especially in tutoring, take this article as a preparatory step to become a better teacher.

There are few things newbies should learn when 1st entering into teaching, especially in universities and higher learning institutions.

1. Do not expect to gain respect from students by talking loud and being over assertive. Why? Because us students don’t give a shit when tutors shout. In fact, it makes us hate them more .a good way to request an audience from students is ask politely and talk gently even if you are going to burst out inside, keep it inside. Believe it or not

By Aaron Rao

Two years ago, before entering into varsity life, I believe us students’ live normal lives that believe in an ideal world where countries will be governed with good governance, and cultures and religion are something that are of naturalism. But guess what, taking mass communications, learning what we learn; I believe kind of makes it hard for us to believe in anything anymore. Let me give you readers a clearer picture. By Aaron Rao

With all the rumors or news or myth or gossip spreading around over a potential serial rapist lurking around campus compounds, one must wonder how might a rapist look like? Some say that they look like a dirty and messy dude and dark skinned. Some said that they’re of other nationality working in the campus compound. Well I’ve got bad news for those reading or having a stereotypical mindset of how they think a rapist might look like. Continue reading ‘Does Orang Minyak look oily?’

Can ethnicity take a break?

By Aaron Rao

Malaysia as we all know is eminent for our many races and wealth in diverse cultures and heritage. Not only that, Malaysia is praised for the unity of its citizens. The spirit of unity is a value in which our government has been encouraging the rakyat to live out and believe.

Therefore it is essential that the learning process starts from the upbringing of the country’s young generation. Thus, schools and education institutes whether it is primary, secondary, or tertiary, has a vital role to play. Now here’s the problem, according some chats I had our senior citizens which I’ve spoken to, all of them stressed out that during their heyday co-curricular activities is the time where by every student work together and learn more about each others cultures through interactions. The most crucial week this semester

By Aaron Rao

For those who are reading this article on Friday, I am now at KL Assunta Hospital.  This week started just like any other week in campus with assignments pending and a load of unsettled tasks.  It would also have been the most crucial week of my semester so far because I will do my first ever video shooting for my broadcast assignment.  But life is really filled with its surprises.  Just one day before I am to start my shooting, I received bad news from my hometown.

  1. My beloved brother is admitted to the hospital suspected and now confirmed Dengue fever.
  2. My sweet loving grandmother is also admitted and is in dire need of blood. Continue reading ‘The most crucial week this semester’
